POST

What is POST?

The POST legislation mandated the creation of a commission, which is currently in the process of developing rules and procedures for law enforcement. If misconduct is found during a POST commission hearing, they have the power to revoke a police officer's certification. Under new POST regulations, some misconduct will automatically lead to decertification, whereas other misconduct may or may not lead to an officer losing their certification.

Our Expertise

CIC has a mastery of the initial POST legislation and is closely tracking the rules and procedures drafted by the commission. The CIC team has a deep understanding of the reporting requirements of police departments and the process of communication between MPTC and POST on training matters. CIC also understands the data collection responsibilities under the POST commission and how police departments will need to comply with such requirements.

Investigative Procedure

Comprehensive Investigations and Consulting employs a team approach to each investigation. Our diversity of backgrounds allows us to view each investigation through multiple lenses. Every investigation is analyzed by former law enforcement, defense attorneys and prosecutors.  Our team employs solid fundamentals to examine each investigation, impartially and independently. All allegations are investigated with no preconceived notions regarding any conclusions, and at no time are the conclusions affected by outside interests. At all times, the team approach will be utilized to maintain the fairness of the findings and any recommendations.

All documentary evidence is obtained and rigorously examined.

Step 1

Witness interviews are thoroughly prepared for and documented.

Step 2

The team evaluates all evidence to determine any potential violations.

Step 3

A full and thorough report is written containing the findings.

Step 4

If requested, recommendations regarding actions are provided.

Title IX

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

What is Title IX?

Title IX applies to faculty, staff, and students in any organization that receives funds from the Department of Education, including schools, local and state educational agencies, and other institutions.

Who does Title IX apply to?
